📝Abstract

Background: India's responsibility towards the arrangement, and progressively successful reduction in the usage of tobacco under 'Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act' (COTPA) and 'Framework Convention for Tobacco Control' (FCTC) prompted the introduction of the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) in 2007–2008.

Aim: This study aimed to compare the incidence of tobacco related cancers before and after implementation of NTCP in India.

Materials and Methods: Data regarding incidence of tobacco related cancers for years 2006-2019 were collected from National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Comparison of pre-NTCP (2006-2008) and post-NTCP (2015-2019) periods was done.

Results: A significant reduction in the incidence of tobacco related cancers was observed in the post-NTCP period as compared to pre-NTCP period, particularly among males and in the age group of 40-60 years.
